Mnemonic Vocabulary Cards
Here are some mnemonics I have worked on over the years to help me (and others) learn new vocabulary words. The last one (Bra-Goat) is my favorite… in case you were wondering.

Word: ถนัด
Pronunciation: ta(L)-nat(L)
Meaning: adj. [is] skilled, smooth, clever, dexterous
Mnemonic: The nut is smooth, like Michael Jackson’s smooth criminal. Can you hear the song in your head?

Word: ผลิต
Pronunciation: pa(L)-lit(L)
Definition: to generate, make, manufacture, produce.
Mnemonic: ‘Pull It’ because everything you manufacture gets stuck in the big machine.

Word: สมาคม
Pronunciation: sa(L)-maa-khom
Definition: (noun) an association, a fellowship.
Mnemonic: Some guys from an association smacking a comb saying they can’t join their association.

Word: วุฒิภาวะ
Pronunciation: wu(H)-dti(L)-paa-wa(H)
Definition: n. Maturity
Mnemonic: WOODY (from Toy Story) is filled with POWER and this causes him to mature and obviously mature people study at a desk.

Word: ฟืน
Pronunciation: fuuwn
Definition: (noun) firewood, fuel.
Mnemonic: Firewood says, ‘Hey guys, let’s go set ourselves on fire! It will be FUUUUN! (sounds like Thai word)’

Word: วิศวกร
Pronunciation: wi(H)-sa(L)-wa(H)-gon
Definition: (noun) an engineer
Mnemonic: ‘Wizard, why gone?’ because it was expelled by the power of math and science! Get out of here wizard!

Word: อักษร
Pronunciation: ag(L)-son(R)
Definition: (noun) a character, a letter.
Mnemonic: There is an axe on two different letters.

Word: ปรากฏ
Pronunciation: braa-got(L)
Definition: (verb) to appear, to reveal
Mnemonic: There is nothing, then suddenly BAM there is a BRA wearing GOAT that APPEARS out of nowhere!
Love them!!! Such a creative way to learn!
